How is net worth calculated?

Net worth is assets minus debt. This tool adds cash, investments, and other assets, then subtracts debt. It is a simplified snapshot, not a full balance sheet.

What should I count as assets or debt?

Cash: checking, savings, and similar liquid balances. Investments: brokerage and retirement accounts at rough market value. Other assets: home or property value, vehicles, collectibles, business equity, and similar valuables. Debt: credit cards, student loans, car loans, mortgages, and other balances you want included. If you include a home or car under other assets, include the matching mortgage or auto loan under debt.

What goes in Other assets?

Anything valuable that is not cash or paper investments—for example your house, land, vehicles, jewelry, collectibles, or business equity. Use a rough market value. Pair large assets with their loans under Debt so net worth reflects equity, not just the asset side.

What does the goal ring show?

Progress of current net worth toward the goal amount you enter. When net worth meets or exceeds the goal, the ring fills and the label shows that you hit the target.
